Gail Nichols and Richard Cherry, a wife and husband team, co-founders, are shown here receiving their Smithsonian Computerworld Award for creating the now worldwide internet-based Virtual Call Center, employing millions of people in virtually every country worldwide.
Gail and Richard continue innovating to provide you high quality products and services they personally use and recommend.
These RETURNABLE Security Shipping Containers, that you see almost everyday, are examples of world class products Richard Cherry created and patented in 1980 that today are found in virtually every store and in every country and in most households worldwide.
At first, we couldn't give these containers away because cardboard boxes were so cheap - but they were only for one-time use and were costly to dispose. Today these security containers are the Shipping Industry Standard WORLDWIDE . (U.S. patent D257528)
In 1991 we created the original Virtual Call Center technology and business method. We invented this at the beginning of the Internet to create meaningful employment for people with disabilities and others such as young parents and seniors who needed to work from home at their convenience.
At first, governments accused us of ghettoizing and exploiting people with telecommuting while today over 2 million people are employed around the world in Virtual Call Centers. You probably talk to one of these agents almost daily at a major retailer, hospital, government office or any other service provider worldwide.
We received a Smithsonian Computerworld Award and President's Task Force Award for this creation. As well, Richard Cherry was granted two U.S. patents 6,320,956 and 6,493,446
Virtually everything you eat or drink came through our most important product creation: Stainless Steel Seamless Continuous Food Processing Systems.
Previously, all food and beverages were produced with Take-Apart Piping Systems, as shown in inset, that were disassembled at the end of each day and manually cleaned . . . a haven for bacteria.
Continuous Piping Systems were created by Richard Cherry in 1972 at which time Kraft Foods, by Mr. Kraft personally, gave Richard his first major order for Kraft Food's then newest plant in Allentown PA., the largest food plant ever built until then.
Currently, Continuous Piping Systems, that you benefit from every day, are the Food, Dairy, Beverage, and Brewing Industries Processing Standard WORLDWIDE.
In 1975, Richard Cherry began the first 30 Minute Rapid Fulfillment and Delivery Service of Office Products that he called STREAKERS that soon expanded to numerous U.S. Cities with the help of Glaser Brothers, a Gulf & Western Company headquartered in Los Angeles. In Dallas / Fort Worth, it was called STAPLES. In 1982 the Staples division was bought by the founders of what today is known as STAPLES Office Products.
By 1993, Streakers Office Products evolved through customer demand into Groceries. Then with McDonald's, into Fast Food.
In 2004, with the help of Tom Monaghan, founder of DOMINO'S PIZZA it became The NOW Mall, the 30 Minute Home Delivery Of EVERYTHING.
Richard was granted U.S. Patent 7,082,409 for his Rapid Fulfillment and Delivery method. However, The Now Mall quickly attracted major competitors like Amazon Prime, Google Express and eBay NOW as well as many others like Instacart, Postmates, Grub Hub, Shipt, Ubereats, and multiple others.
They all attempted to copy Richard's "Secret Sauce" of excellence developed over many years with his mentors like Glaser Bros, Barry Diller of Home Shopping Network, Harland Sanders "The Colonel" of KFC, McDonald's and Tom Monaghan of Domino's Pizza. None of these Rapid Delivery competitors were profitable including Amazon.
Amazon was able to raise BILLIONS that we were unable to raise due to the diminishing profitability of the prolific debt-ridden divisions of Rapid Delivery upstarts, including Amazon, Google and eBay and the then growing new group of smaller upstarts like Instacart and Postmates.
Therefore, with his Smithsonian Award in hand and his Virtual Call Center gaining traction, Richard refocused his attention on The Virtual Call Center that in 2005 was purchased by the owners of Home Shopping Network (HSN), one of Richard's first and largest Virtual Call Center customers at that time.
People told Richard he "was way ahead of his time". They Were Right. His original imagination helped create this entire New Rapid Delivery Of EVERYTHING Industry WORLDWIDE.
KFC was the first Food company to replace cardboard boxes with Richard's Specially Designed Returnable Containers (U.S. Patent D252,179) shown in the photo.
KFC was so impressed, that the Colonel became involved and took a few lids home for his strawberry patch.
Well ! . . . the solid plastic lids killed his strawberries (unlike cardboard box lids) and so the Colonel summoned Richard for a meeting - - - the most interesting story took place and he became one of Richard's closest friends and mentors as did many other Industry Leaders whose Industries Richard helped improve and in many cases, helped to revolutionize.
